Data access
Access in general
Any request to access any data or product requires the completion of the request data form, to:
- Enable approval of the proposed usage.
- Ensure that conditions of usage are agreed to.
- Provide necessary information to satisfy NERC's reporting requirements.
High level access
- Unregulated access: It is not generally possible to give unregulated access to the complete archive.
- Regulated access: Regulated ftp access for a specific long term project can be arranged, but such access requires the user to sign up to stringent auditable usage reporting requirements. If you feel that this is appropriate for your usage, then you will need to make a case to BIGF, please enquire.
Access LEVEL 0 - GNSS RINEX observation and related data
- Accessibility (30s data, including broadcast ephemeris): UNRESTRICTED, to scientific and OS users, with a minimum data age
of 30 days. - Accessibility (metadata time series, based on 30-second data): UNRESTRICTED, to scientific and OS users, as monthly updated text time series in a single a-z zip file, and as graphic time series in multi-station zip files: a-c, d-h, i-l, m-p, r-z.
- Accessibility (1Hz data): RESTRICTED, to scientific users only, with a minimum data age of 120 days.
- How to apply, for 30s and 1Hz data: Using the request data form.
- Lead time: Sameday approval is normal, although for reasons of workload or complexity/size of a request, this may take up to 5 working days. On approval, you will receive emailed access instructions.
- Access mode: For small volumes, by emailed link to a zipfile; for large volumes, via named ftp account.
- RINEX observation file header record change catalogue, with explanatory notes at the end of file.
- Station log files.
- Accessibility: RESTRICTED, to scientific users only.

- Lead time: Up to 5 working days. On approval, you will receive emailed access instructions.
- Access mode: For small volumes, by emailed link to a zipfile; for large volumes, via named ftp account.
Access LEVEL 2 - Product time series
- Accessibility: RESTRICTED, to scientific users only.
